RR Poet wines are limited-production, estate-grown wines. Our wines reflect a singular vision - to express the very best qualities of a distinctive place - our very own PineBrake Vineyard.  The 2019 “Alliteration” is a blend of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot, and 15% Cabernet Franc, with a nod to the classic wines of the left bank Bordeaux region, but certainly exhibiting and highlighting the characteristics of our own great winegrowing region. Extremely Limited.

Winemaker Tasting Notes

The 2019 Alliteration is a full-bodied, richly textured wine with a dense core. It has beautiful aromatics of blackberry, cassis, blueberry, pencil lead, earth, cedar, and mint. The silky, decadent tannins frame well-delineated flavors of blackberry, cassis, tar, wild mint, eucalyptus, Mexican vanilla bean, dark chocolate, and espresso. The refreshing acidity provides a high-toned lift on the beautifully long, vibrant finish. This wine echoes tones of violets, cassis, gravel, and dried sage for well over one minute. Like the Allusion, the Alliteration is a profound wine, but in a fuller, more structured style. Properly cellared, the wine should hit maturity in 10-12 years and provide excellent drinking for approximately 20+ years. - Billo Naravane, MW

Critics’ Notes & Scores

“An intoxicating blend of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Cabernet Franc, and 15% Merlot that is sultry and incredibly beautiful in every way. With a nose of ripe mountain blackberry, cassis, freshly ground coffee, tar, and a touch of tobacco, I could spend hours smelling the wine and watching it evolve. The palate is fresh and on point with additional flavors of black plum, cinnamon stick, vanilla bean with a hint of earthiness, and iron ore. Ample acidity, lovely chalky tannins, a full-body, and a wonderfully fruity and earthy finish complete the wine. Highly recommended.” - Jeremy Young - International Wine Report– 96 Points

“Swinging for the fence and possibly trying to capture the Quilceda Creek fan base, the 2019 Alliteration, crafted by winemaker Billo Naravane MW, is Cabernet Sauvignon dominant, with 15% Cabernet Franc and 15% Merlot, and comes from the PineBrake vineyard. The nose offers a massive fruit profile, exploding with luscious, ripe, juicy fruit tones accompanied by notes of oak, earth, mulch, plum pie and cherry compote. Full-bodied on the palate, finely grained tannins provide a fresh, succulent character that keeps me coming back for more. Layers of purple flowers, cinnamon spice and fruit tones overflow with complexity. The wine aged sur lie for 19 months in 60% new French oak. Bravo.” - Anthony Mueller - Robert Parker Wine Advocate - 95 Points

“A blend of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon with the rest equal parts Cabernet Franc and Merlot, this is one of the inaugural releases from this producer, and it flat-out impresses. The aromas show a lot of nuance, with notes of earth, struck flint, cherry, flower and fresh herb. The palate is laser-focused, supple and textured, with bright, fresh, vivid fruit flavors. Coffee notes linger on the long finish. It's all about sophistication and polish—a statement. Pair it with grilled skirt steak. Best after 2025.” - “Cellar Selection”- Sean Sullivan - Wine Enthusiast Magazine– 93 Points

“Their Left Bank inspired blend, the 2019 RR Poet ‘Alliteration’ evokes violet aromatics with black tea, exotic spices, and dark currants that all sing in unison. The palate is plush with a seamless texture. Layers of ripe dark fruits collide with cocoa powder, anise and cassis. Drink 2021-2035” - Owen Bargreen – Vinous93 Points

“A more Cabernet Sauvignon-dominated wine, the 2019 Alliteration PineBrake Vineyard is 70% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% each of Merlot and Cabernet Franc that was brought up in 60% new oak. It's nearly opaque purple/ruby hue is followed by solid aromatics of red and black currants, tobacco leaf, spice box, chocolate, and loamy earth. Round, supple, medium to full-bodied, and opulent on the palate, it has a great mouthfeel, velvety tannins, and outstanding length.” - Jeb Dunnuck - 93 Points
